June 6 marks an important celebration in Ukraine - Journalists' Day.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Security Service of Ukraine extended their greetings to journalists, thanking them for their courage and crucial work during the war, while also honoring the memory of fallen colleagues.

President's Address

The head of state expressed gratitude to every journalist and media worker, highlighting the importance of their work in wartime conditions.

“The world knows about events in Ukraine. Every country understands our stance and hears about our actions in defense of independence. This has been possible thanks to thousands of our journalists,” – said Zelensky.

He added that the professionalism of Ukrainian media workers is a powerful force that protects our country.

“Thank you! Happy Journalists' Day. Remember those who lost their lives in this war; their memory deserves respect. Glory to Ukraine!” – the President emphasized.

General's Greetings from the Armed Forces

General Syrskyi also congratulated journalists, emphasizing their role in conveying the truth about the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people.

“You carry the voices of defenders to the world and counter hostile propaganda,” – stated the General.

He noted the significance of journalists' work in preserving historical memory and supporting the morale of soldiers.

“Today, we honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Their bravery will remain in our hearts,” – he added.

Greetings from the Security Service of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine highlighted the dangerous conditions in which journalists work, documenting the courage of Ukrainians.

“You have become the eyes of the world in this war; thanks to you, the international community understands the true cost of freedom,” – stated the SBU.

What to Know About Journalists' Day

Journalists' Day is celebrated annually on June 6 in Ukraine. This holiday symbolizes the recognition of the important role of journalism in society.

The holiday was established on May 25, 1994, by a decree from President Leonid Kravchuk in support of the initiative from the editors of newspapers and magazines.

The date of celebration, June 6, was chosen in honor of the acceptance of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine into the International Federation of Journalists in 1992.
