On October 1st, Ukraine celebrates Defenders Day.

This day is dedicated to the modern warriors who uphold and develop our military traditions, as well as honoring heroes from various eras.

We express our gratitude to all those who defend our freedom and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our homeland.

In Odesa, a tribute to the fallen was paid with the laying of flowers at the Memorial to the Fighters for Ukraine.

Representatives from local authorities, military, veterans, clergy, and citizens participated in the ceremony.

Defenders Day was established in 2014 to honor the bravery of those who defend the independence and territorial integrity of our country. This day is closely linked to the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, who was revered by the Cossacks. Modern defenders preserve these traditions.
War tests and strengthens the Ukrainian nation. With their heroism and dedication, today's defenders have gained the highest level of trust from the people. The Ukrainian army has become one of the most capable in the world and continues to be Europe's shield. It is our duty to be a strong support for our army and to help bring victory closer.
