Advancements in Endovascular Medicine in Ukraine

Last week, the first practical workshop in Ukraine focused on endovascular treatment of massive pulmonary embolism took place at the city clinical hospital No. 10 in Odessa.

Cardiologists, interventional and vascular surgeons, and anesthesiologists from various regions of Ukraine gathered in Odessa to acquire practical knowledge for implementing innovations in their daily medical practice. The training was conducted by Artem Hovorov, head of the interventional cardiology department at the St. Michael's Clinical Hospital in Kyiv, who shared the advanced practices of Ukrainian and European specialists.

Doctors emphasize that pulmonary embolism—caused by a thrombus blocking the branches of the pulmonary artery—poses an acute risk and can lead to patient death, making it as serious a challenge for physicians as heart attacks and strokes. Thus, the theoretical knowledge and practical skills obtained are not just an enhancement of professional expertise, but a new approach to preserving patient life and health.

"Development, continuous education, and keeping up with the times is the philosophy of modern medicine. Therefore, we consistently implement the latest technologies, both in equipment and methodologies," said Denis Sebov, the general director of hospital No. 10.

The city authorities of Odessa are systematically working to update the medical equipment in the city's healthcare institutions, particularly in multidisciplinary cluster hospitals.

Last year, the city clinical hospital No. 10 received modern equipment for performing surgical interventions, radiological operation control, and laboratory services.
