Last week, Odesa hosted a Hearing Health Awareness Day aimed at detecting hearing impairments in both adults and children. This initiative was supported by the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council and the local health center.
All interested individuals were able to undergo free medical examinations and receive consultations from specialists, with referrals for audiometry provided when necessary.
During the event, a total of 426 individuals were screened, including 251 children. The examinations revealed 116 cases of hearing disorders, 64 of which were found in children.
Sixty-six patients with identified hearing issues received referrals for audiometry. ENT specialists provided consultations and recommendations to all attendees.
Odesa's medical facilities have acquired new equipment for diagnosing ear diseases funded by the city budget. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of regular hearing checks — at least once a year. It is also crucial to seek medical advice if there is a sudden decline in hearing.
Don’t hesitate to visit a doctor if you:
- experience ear pain or discharge;
- have sudden hearing loss in one ear;
- are concerned about your child's hearing.
