Ukraine is set to introduce new electronic medical certificates in 2026, which will be required for adoption and obtaining driver's licenses.
This was announced by Dmytro Chernysh, the director of the department for the development of electronic health system services during the eHealth Day at the Public Health exhibition.
«We are actively preparing to launch new electronic medical certificates that will simplify the processes of adoption and obtaining driver’s licenses. These important documents need to be digitized to make the procedures more convenient and transparent», Chernysh noted.
He also emphasized that implementing these electronic medical certificates will require changes to current legislation, including relevant regulations and laws.
Additionally, this year marks the launch of the next phase of electronic services in the field of rehabilitation, which involves electronic prescriptions for assistive devices for patients.
«Previously, this data was documented on paper, but now it will be automatically sent to the Ministry of Social Policy, allowing patients to receive the necessary devices more quickly», Chernysh added.
Starting in 2026, a preventive health examination program for people aged 40 and older will also commence in Ukraine, aimed at early detection of dangerous diseases. Participants will be able to receive funding for examinations through the «Diia» platform.
