The city of Odesa has formed a partnership with France to enhance medical services. This includes the establishment of a Mental Health Center at one of the city’s hospitals.
The ongoing conflict has affected many, particularly veterans and displaced individuals. It is essential to provide high-quality mental health support to all residents.
A working group is currently evaluating the condition of medical facilities in Odesa. In the near future, French doctors are expected to visit for knowledge exchange and training.
«Our goal is to collaborate with Expertise France to ensure that everyone in need of assistance can receive it promptly and without barriers. Supporting mental health involves not only treatment but also prevention, education, and combating stigma. We aim to create a healthy community where everyone feels safe», said Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Mayor Trukhanov expressed gratitude to the French people for their attention and invaluable support, as well as to the French Embassy in Ukraine for facilitating this collaboration.
The memorandum was signed by Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov on behalf of Odesa City Council and Ms. Sofia Oliynyk, director of Expertise France in Ukraine, which is part of the French Development Agency.
Present at the signing were Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Health Ihor Kopach and the head of the AFD office in Ukraine, Ms. Aksel Nos.
This agreement outlines comprehensive cooperation in healthcare, specifically addressing issues related to mental health, rehabilitation, oncology, and cardiovascular diseases.
