image

Last week, a Breast Cancer Prevention and Early Diagnosis Day was held in Odesa for the women of the city. This event was organized with the support of the Odesa City Council's Health Department and the Odesa City Health Center in honor of the nationwide breast cancer awareness day.

Women interested had the opportunity to undergo free clinical examinations of the breast, receive consultations from family doctors, therapists, surgeons, or oncologists. Additionally, specialists at diagnostic centers performed mammograms and ultrasounds free of charge for women who came without electronic referrals.

As a result of the event, a total of 1822 women underwent preventive mammological examinations. 669 referrals for mammograms and 388 for ultrasounds were created. 170 women were directed for additional consultations with mammologists.

During the event, 97 women received free mammography examinations by self-referral, which allowed for the early detection of 8 cases suspected of breast cancer, with all patients referred for further consultations and examinations at specialized medical facilities.

Remember! Women over 40 years old should undergo screening mammography annually, even in the absence of complaints or symptoms. Timely diagnosis enables the detection of precancerous conditions and malignant tumors at early stages, which are successfully treatable.

Medical institutions in Odesa have been equipped with modern mammography machines thanks to the city budget and a unique Family Health Center has been established at Consultation and Diagnostic Center No. 6 for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases.
