On the evening of Saturday, April 12, 2025, firefighters in Odessa battled a blaze in the Peresyp district. The fire resulted in the death of an elderly woman.

According to the regional emergency service, flames erupted from the doors and flooring of an apartment on Prince Volodymyr the Great Avenue.

The body of the apartment's owner, born in 1940, was discovered at the scene.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damages are currently being investigated.

Data from the emergency service indicates that 19 fires were recorded in the Odessa region over the past day, including five in Odessa and 14 throughout the region.
