The bridge repair project in the Odesa region, linking the ports of Izmail and Kiliya, is nearing completion.

This was reported by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Ukraine's Infrastructure.

Specialists have finished laying the top layer of asphalt on the bridge structure and approaches.

Currently, they are installing traffic signs, reinforcing the shoulders, and painting the bridge. After that, grass will be seeded on the slopes, and road markings will be applied.

The bridge over the Kofa canal on the T-16-07 road Izmail – Kiliya – Vylkove holds significant logistical importance: it connects the Izmail and Kiliya river ports, as well as four communities in the Izmail district.

“Thanks to the major repairs, the movement of civilian vehicles, ambulance crews, school buses, emergency services, and freight transport will be expedited,” the agency reports.

The bridge over the Kofa canal was built in the 1960s and is located on the state road T-16-07 Izmail – Kiliya – Vylkove. In 2021, it was declared emergency and closed after a hole formed in the middle, causing the entire structure to tilt.
