In collaboration with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Odessa is advancing its flagship project «Barrier-Free Movement».

During a meeting of the Barrier-Free Council chaired by the Mayor of Odessa, the initial phase of the barrier-free route was approved, set to be implemented in 2025. This involves the segment from Kishinevskaya Street to the Public Service Center of the Peresyp Administration.

The project includes comprehensive work to create an inclusive pedestrian environment: renovation of sidewalks, improvement of bus stops, and the establishment of accessible infrastructure for all population groups.

«For several years, extensive work has been carried out: replacing tracks, modernizing key transport junctions, and upgrading rolling stock. In addition to tram services, the organization of a barrier-free pedestrian route is planned. The city will cover a significant portion of the expenses» - noted Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

This is part of a larger initiative to establish the longest barrier-free tram route in Ukraine, «North-South», with an allocation of 127 million hryvnias already planned.
