Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are set to take place in Istanbul on Friday, May 16, with the participation of representatives from the US and Turkey.

This was reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu, citing sources within the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting will include Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and the US delegation will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Official confirmation of negotiations in this format for Friday has not yet been provided.

Russia has sent a low-level delegation led by Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to President Vladimir Putin, to initiate the talks.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that he does not foresee any breakthroughs in the negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, on May 15, Volodymyr Zelensky approved the composition of the Ukrainian delegation for the Istanbul talks, which will be headed by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
