Today, a significant meeting took place involving Kyiv experts from the «Barrier-Free Movement» project of the Ministry of Community and Territory Development of Ukraine, representatives of municipal and regional structures, as well as members of the Barrier-Free Council. The meeting was chaired by Oleksandr Filatov, the first deputy mayor of Odesa.
As noted earlier by Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, Odesa is one of the 15 pilot cities participating in the flagship «Barrier-Free Movement» project under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
As part of the project, funded by the city, regional, and state budgets, a pedestrian inclusive route is planned in the Peresyp district of Odesa, which will connect social and infrastructure facilities with the «North-South» tram line.
This route will run along Prince Volodymyr the Great Avenue from the intersection with Kishinyivska Street to the intersection with Ak. Zabolotny Street and further to the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital, including access to the CNAP on David Oistrakh Street.
On the specified section of the route, it is planned to install elements of a barrier-free environment: pedestrian pathways, ramps, adapted public transport stops, parking spaces, and informational systems that will provide opportunities for barrier-free movement for people with disabilities.
Currently, work is being coordinated with a team of experts, which includes an inspection of the reconstruction sites.
Additionally, a working group with Kyiv experts visited the Odesa coastline to familiarize themselves with the progress of work on the arrangement of an inclusive beach and several social infrastructure facilities.
