On the night of September 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported the arrest of a suspect in the murder of former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy.

Zelensky shared this update on social media.

"The Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko and the head of the Security Service Vasyl Maliuk have just reported the arrest of the suspect in the case", - stated Zelensky.

The President noted that the necessary investigative actions are ongoing.

"I have instructed to present all available information to the public. Thank you to the law enforcement agencies for their prompt and coordinated work. All circumstances surrounding this horrific crime must be clarified", - added Zelensky.

Update: Later, Zelensky mentioned that he spoke with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

"He (Kravchenko) reported on further procedural steps regarding the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy. There are initial testimonies from the suspect. Urgent investigative actions are currently underway to establish all circumstances of this murder", - noted Zelensky.

Previously, Zelensky assured that the investigation into the assassination of MP Andriy Parubiy is being conducted "virtually around the clock".
