In Odesa, a trial is underway for women who participated in an espionage network linked to Russian intelligence, which coordinated strikes on military and medical facilities. They provided information on at least 10 such sites. Two of the accused are currently in custody, while the third is serving an 8-year prison sentence.

This was reported by the Odesa regional prosecutor's office.

Law enforcement officials revealed that the defendants, under the supervision of a Russian curator, gathered information about the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and critical infrastructure in Odesa.

"The organizer of the espionage network was a 23-year-old local resident. She recruited two of her friends into the criminal activity, who also supported the aggressor's actions. They independently wrote and sent applications to work for one of the Russian intelligence agencies.

For several months, the trio collected and sent text messages, photos, videos, and Google Maps screenshots via messenger, detailing the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, recruitment centers, hospitals, and air defense systems. The network members managed to inform the occupiers about at least 10 targets," the report states.

For their "work," the women received $500, and in the event of Odesa's occupation, they expected to take leadership positions within the trade management.

The accused were apprehended in June 2024 while gathering information on the location of a military unit. Currently, two women remain in custody, while the third is already serving her sentence. Considering her cooperation with the investigation, genuine remorse, and the fact that she committed the crime while pregnant, the court imposed a less severe penalty than what the law prescribes.
