Law enforcement officials in Odesa conducted training for children, teaching them how to respond to dangerous situations and avoid risks. Together, they honored the memory of the Heroes who fought for Ukraine's independence.
The police emphasized the rules of the road: how to safely cross streets, use reflective elements in the dark, behave properly near roadways, and during rides on bicycles, scooters, or electric vehicles. Children had the chance to act as traffic regulators and discussed various life situations to reinforce their knowledge.
Moreover, the police held a discussion about preventing violence. They explained to the children what physical, psychological, economic, and sexual violence is, provided real-life examples, and stressed that any forms of aggression or humiliation are unacceptable. Children learned where to seek help – from parents, teachers, police officers, or the national hotline, and received handouts with advice and contacts for relevant services.
Attention was also drawn to online threats. Children were introduced to the main types of online fraud, the dangers of communicating with strangers, how to recognize suspicious messages, and the rules for safe internet use. They were reminded about what to do during an air raid alert and why it's essential to follow safety requirements.
Additionally, in honor of the Day of Dignity and Freedom celebrated on November 21, police officers discussed national values with the children, watched a thematic video, and recalled Ukraine's state symbols. The students made a flag of Ukraine by hand and lit a memorial candle.
In conclusion, law enforcement encouraged children to be responsible, take care of their safety, respect the rights of others, love their homeland, and value national heritage.
