The first round of the open volleyball tournament «Southern League» for girls in two age categories – 2008 and 2010 – was held in Odesa.

Eleven teams from Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kryvyi Rih, and Zhytomyr participated in the competition. The tournament format includes 4 regular rounds and 1 final round.

The Odesa team «Lantana», representing the Comprehensive Children and Youth Sports School No. 8, excelled in the 2008 category. They won all their matches, losing only two sets throughout the tournament. The Mykolaiv team secured second place, while Kryvyi Rih finished third.

In the competition for athletes born in 2010, the Odesa Comprehensive Children and Youth Sports School team «Dzhinistra» achieved a convincing victory. The Zhytomyr team came in second, followed by Mykolaiv in third place.

The «Dzhinistra» team also included athletes from the beach volleyball division.
