To enhance road safety and effectively respond to winter conditions, the Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» is undertaking a series of new initiatives.
Traditionally, by November, preparations for winter are concluding: equipment is being modified as tanks are removed from street washing vehicles, replaced by salt-sand spreaders.
Winter equipment is being installed, with most vehicles fitted with snow plows. Regular inspections and preventive maintenance are conducted on all machinery. Once preparations are complete, the performance of the special equipment will be tested on the enterprise's premises.
The Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» has a fleet that includes snow removal vehicles, sand spreaders, graders, excavators, and loaders. For the 2024-2025 winter season, 104 pieces of equipment and 560 workers will be engaged in snow removal and ice management. As of November 4, 37 units of machinery are already ready for use, with full preparation expected to be completed by the end of November.
The enterprise is also stockpiling sand-salt mixtures for ice control. In anticipation of worsening weather conditions, it has secured 11,860 tons of reagents for treating the road surface.
The Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» has developed 17 routes for snow removal equipment to ensure prompt clearing of roads from snow drifts and ice. Additionally, there are 54 routes designated for spreading reagents to reduce hazards on the roads.
Starting December 1, 2024, the round-the-clock standby of the Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» teams will commence for rapid response to adverse weather conditions. The duty rooms are prepared, and the staff operating the machinery is provided with winter clothing.
