In celebration of its 160th anniversary, Odesa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov, in collaboration with the administration, labor union, and student committee, is launching the campaign «Become a Donor! Save a Life!».

This initiative is part of the university project «HEALTH, MOVEMENT, EDUCATION — the university lives and acts»!

«The main goal of this campaign is to gather 160 donors, uniting the university community to save the lives of military personnel and those in need,» — shared the campaign initiator, Associate Professor Vadim Penov.

Blood collection will take place on the university premises with the participation of medical staff from the Odesa Regional Blood Transfusion Station.

The campaign commenced at the Odesa University branch in Shampanovyi Lane and will continue next week in the library and other university buildings.

Students, faculty, and university staff eagerly participated in the blood donation. Over 70 people donated blood in the first two days. Each participant received a reward from the «Donor Odesa» project — a sticker featuring the mascot Sonya.

Additionally, informative discussions on common blood donation questions were held with students of the Vocational College and members of the Biological Faculty's Academic Council as part of the «Donor Odesa» project.

Promotional activities for blood donation at Mechnikov University were conducted within the city charity project «Weeks of Good Deeds».

The «Donor Odesa» project has been facilitating blood donor recruitment for medical institutions since the beginning of the full-scale war. During this time, over 12000 blood donations have been made.
Ongoing information efforts to promote blood donation and update on current needs are supported by the Department of Information and Digital Solutions of the Odesa City Council, utilizing the Telegram channel «Odesa.Officially» and the MISTO mobile app.
