Fighting for Life: Odessa Cancer Center and Child Psychiatry

image

The Odessa Cancer Center and Child Psychiatry are two places where the fight for patients' lives takes place daily. The regional authorities are always by their side, supporting this essential process.

First Deputy Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Oleksandr KHARLOV, and the Director of the Health Department, Oksana ROKUNETS-SOROCHAN, visited these crucial medical facilities that offer hope and a chance for recovery.

Odessa Regional Cancer Center

During the visit, the readiness of equipment and the conditions under which patients undergo treatment were checked. Radiation therapy is a critical stage in the healing process.

As part of the Medical Guarantees Program, patients receive free:

  • oncologist consultations;
  • CT scans (Siemens GoSim);
  • precise marking and stable fixation for radiation therapy.

Each radiation session is more than a procedure; it is a struggle for another hopeful dawn, for a life without pain.

Odessa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital — modern child psychiatry department

Since July 1, 2025, the only stationary child psychiatry department in the region has been functioning here, where another equally significant struggle takes place every day — for children's emotional well-being.

With 25 beds, modern equipment, and a team of specialists ranging from psychiatrists to speech therapists, this place is dedicated to treatment, understanding, and support.

Although renovations are ongoing, assistance is already being provided with care and professionalism. Inclusion, accessibility, and telemedicine are in effect. Dozens of children have already received treatment or are currently under the care of professionals.

During the visits, we discussed urgent issues and future plans. By changing the conditions, we are changing reality for the better.

We express our gratitude to all concerned citizens of Odessa Region whose suggestions and remarks help us improve continuously. We are always open to dialogue.
