In the Odesa region, law enforcement authorities arrested the deputy head of a medical advisory commission for accepting a bribe of $6,000 to assist a soldier in being discharged from military service. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect faces criminal charges.

According to the Odesa regional police, the arrested deputy head conspired with unidentified individuals from the Military Medical Clinical Center to help a soldier be discharged. He demanded $6,000 for his "services," promising to provide medical documents that would justify the soldier’s discharge due to health reasons.

“During the operation to halt the suspect's criminal activities, police documented the receipt of illegal benefits in two installments and subsequently detained him in procedural order.

Based on the collected evidence, investigators informed the offender of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – for receiving illegal benefits as a public official using his position for the benefit of a third party, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years.

The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail amounting to UAH 908,400. Efforts are underway to identify other individuals involved in the scheme,” the statement said.
