The Ukrainian volleyball team showcased an incredible match against Cuba in the Nations League, establishing a new record for blocks in official matches over the last four years.
The encounter ended with a victory for the Ukrainians in a tiebreaker. Throughout the match, the Ukrainian players executed 17 blocks, with Yuri Semenyuk standing out by achieving 5 of those.
The last time Ukraine recorded such a result in this metric was during the group stage of the 2021 European Championship against Portugal, where they had 19 blocks.
This match also marked a record number of blocks under the leadership of Argentine coach Raúl Lozano, who took charge of the team in 2024 (having already conducted 13 matches). The game against Cuba surpassed the previous record from the 2024 Golden Euroleague final against Croatia (14 blocks).
