A tragic incident occurred in Odessa when a drunken tenant inflicted fatal injuries on his landlord and fled to the capital. For this, he was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The event took place in March of last year in the apartment of a 63-year-old man on Breus Street. When acquaintances stopped receiving responses from him, they contacted the police. Officers discovered the man lifeless at the scene.
During the investigation, law enforcement learned that the crime was committed by a 53-year-old tenant from another region, who had been renting a room for several weeks.
It turned out that on the day before the body was found, a conflict arose between the men during drinking sessions, resulting in the tenant stabbing the landlord multiple times. After the incident, he fled to Kyiv, where he was later apprehended.
Crime scene investigators analyzed biological samples and confirmed the suspect's involvement in the crime. A forensic examination established that the cause of death was penetrating stab wounds to the chest.
Police Chief Mykola Kulchytskyi reported that the suspect was taken into custody. The investigation charged him with murder, and the case was forwarded to court.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to nine years in prison. The accused admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for his actions.
