Enhancing Cancer Treatment Services in Odesa

Healthcare facilities in Odesa are enhancing their services for patients suffering from cancer.

City hospitals have signed agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) to provide free chemotherapy treatment as part of the state medical guarantee program.

At Hospital No. 10, chemotherapy is administered through the oncology department, where 20-25 patients receive treatment daily.

This free treatment is available to both residents of Odesa and other regions of Ukraine with a doctor's electronic referral for patients with clinically and morphologically confirmed cancer diagnoses.

In addition to outpatient chemotherapy, the oncology service at Hospital No. 10 includes offices for oncologists and cancer screening, as well as departments for general and minimally invasive surgery.

This oncology service combines surgical, chemotherapy, and diagnostic treatment options, providing patients with comprehensive care at all stages of diagnosis and therapy.

At Hospital No. 1, chemotherapy is also offered free of charge within the palliative care unit. Since the beginning of the year, approximately 120 patients have received treatment there.

Starting in 2025, the oncology services within the state medical guarantee program will be developed at Hospital No. 11, focusing primarily on treating head and neck tumors.

Moreover, the Health Department is actively launching comprehensive programs for the prevention and early detection of cancer in Odesa; in the first half of this year, around 10,000 residents underwent cancer screening.
